Transfer limits by KYC tier in Nigeria, and how to raise yours
₦50,000 a day with one of BVN or NIN, ₦200,000 with both. What the tiers mean, what Kolet enforces, and the one message that raises your limit.
Nigerian accounts are tiered by how much identity has been verified, and each tier has a ceiling on what you can send. Kolet follows the tiers set by its banking partner, Rubies MFB, and enforces them in software, so nobody at Kolet can raise a limit for one person by hand.
The tiers on Kolet
- Tier 1: one validated identifier, BVN or NIN. ₦50,000 per transfer and ₦50,000 per day.
- Tier 2: both BVN and NIN validated. ₦200,000 per transfer and ₦200,000 per day.
- Higher: available after a review of your account and source of funds. Ask in the chat.
The limits apply to money leaving your account: transfers, airtime, data and bills. Money coming in is not limited by tier.
How to raise your limit
Say it:
Raise my limit
Kolet sends a secure link to add whichever identifier you have not given yet, BVN or NIN. The link is valid for 24 hours. Once the identifier is validated, your limit changes on its own. Nothing else to do.
If a payment is refused for the limit
The refusal tells you the limit that stopped it and sends the same link, so you can fix it and send again without starting over.
Why Kolet cannot make an exception
The rules Kolet operates under require limits to be enforced per customer at the system level, and never overridden by staff. That protects you too: nobody can talk their way into moving money out of your account above your tier.
